Free Your Mind From Guilt

Free Your Mind From Guilt

In this second article based on my book Free Your Mind, we will cover content from chapters 3 and 4, which address our struggles with guilt. At times we all sin, and our guilt prompts us to repent and seek forgiveness, but sometimes inappropriate guilty feelings linger longer than they should.

As we will see in the passages below, God graciously provided forgiveness of sins through the sacrifice of Christ, and He graciously gives it to us whenever we come to receive it:

But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. (Romans 3:21-25)

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of God, we too may live a new life. (Romans 6:3-4)

Jesus’ blood has purchased forgiveness for us, and His blood is powerful enough to cover any sin. When Satan seeks to torment us with guilty feelings, we can still confidently come to God knowing we that have been fully forgiven by the sacrifice of Christ:

Therefore, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, an since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience. (Hebrews 10:19-22)

We can free our minds from guilt, shame, and anxiety, knowing that God wants us to serve Him with peace and confidence through Christ! God wants us to live free from the shackles of sin and guilt:

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)

The greatest joy I have ever learned from God is that by the sacrifice of Christ I am fully forgiven and righteous in God’s eyes. As I have embraced this gracious truth, it has freed my mind from Satan’s ongoing accusations and given me the joy and peace that God wants me to have. Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let’s all free our minds from the ongoing accusations of Satan by embracing the gracious and loving forgiveness that God has given us!
