GOD’S AMAZING LOVE FOR US

GOD’S AMAZING LOVE FOR US

In our next series of articles, we are going to reflect on the amazing love of God and Jesus. There is no greater love than God’s love for us. It can profoundly bless and approve our lives. God showed his love for us by sending his Son Jesus to save us:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17)

Even though we are all guilty of sins against him, God lovingly sent his Son Jesus to pay the price of our sins and to take them away from us. God was willing to make the greatest sacrifice imaginable to prove to us just how deeply he loves us. He wanted to be close to us so much that he was willing to do whatever it took to save us and bring us into right relationship with him.

Scripture tells us that God’s love for us is bigger than we can even imagine:

The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
    slow to anger, abounding in love….

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

(Psalm 103:8, 11-12)

God abounds in love for us—his heart is overflowing with love. Our human brains cannot begin to fathom the distance between heaven and earth, but that’s how great God’s love is.

Today as you go about your day, remember how dearly you are loved by your Father in heaven. Let that love give you confidence and joy, and let it inspire you to love others as you have been loved.

In our next article, we will consider Jesus’ love. Brothers and sisters, as we study the life of Jesus, we will be even more profoundly convinced of God’s amazing love for us. Understanding the love of God and Jesus teaches, inspires, and enables us not only to love God and Jesus in return, but also to joyfully love one another!
