Trusting in Grace

Trusting in Grace

This is the third article in a series based on my book, The Guilty Soul’s Guide to Grace. The article is based on chapter 13, “Trusting in Grace.” The book is available from IPI Books.

When we are confronted with a situation in which we feel afraid, weak, or powerless, we can turn to God for strength, wisdom, and help. But when life gets challenging or scary, we may be tempted to doubt God’s love for us—we may think, “Maybe God doesn’t care enough to help me.” Or we may question whether He is able to help us: “Maybe God can’t do anything about this.” When doubt sneaks into our minds, let us remind ourselves of God’s profound love and power. God is worthy of our trust.

Jesus promised that God is a gracious Father who wants tohelp his children when we come to him for help:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”  (Matthew 7:7-11)

This passage reminds us that God is both willing and able to help us. Not only does He have the power to meet our needs, He wants to meet our needs. Brothers and sisters, let us be confident that we can bring all our concerns to our loving Father, because He is always there for us. As we grow in our confidence in God, we will experience incredible blessings and help from Him in whatever challenges we face!
