God and Jesus Teach Us to Love Each Other in Christ

This is the second in a three-part series of articles about the amazing love that God and Jesus have for us.

God and Jesus, who dearly love us, teach us to also deeply love one other in Christ!
Jesus asked God to help all of his future disciples to be close to one another:

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.“ (John 17:20-21)

Jesus then points out that as we love one another, others will see that we are truly His disciples!

“A new command I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)

Brothers and sisters, as others see our love and discipleship in action, they may be willing to study the Scriptures with us and consider becoming disciples of Jesus themselves.

Jesus prayed that our love would help the world to see the love of God and Jesus at work in each of our lives:

“May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (John 17:21-23)

As others see our love, they may be inspired to find out more about that love by studying the Scriptures with us. And as we do so, they can come to believe in the love of God. They can then come to trust in God and get baptized in order to be saved and become His disciples!

When people come to faith and are baptized, we see the awesome power of God and Jesus at work. As our love helps others to experience the love of God and the salvation He offers, those people will have amazing joy—and so will we!
